Alex Warren & Rosé “On My Mind” Review

My honest review of Alex Warren and Rosé music and music video, ‘On My Mind’.

It’s already been ages ago since Rosé teased an upcoming collaboration with American singer Alex Warren on June 20, 2025. (Again… late to the game 😭)

Fast forward a week to June 27, 2025—Alex Warren drops the music video On My Mind, a song that he collaborated with Rosé. According to Wikipedia, they didn’t just sing it together—they co-wrote it, too.!

The song is not rooted or even hinting a K-pop vibe at all. Rather, it is deeply rooted in a folksong. The song is described as a folk-pop or folk-rock ballad.

So I took a listen and watched the Youtube and here is my unsolicited, unprofessional take 🥸:

My MV Take 🎬

The Good 😆

  • I liked the song. It starts out soft but does bring out the deep emotions out as we listen more into the song. It’s a softly intense song, like those that leaves a faint lasting impression. Just like the title “On My Mind”, I feel like the song will be on my mind. 😅
  • Rosé is once again flawless in this music video. Her hairstyle (short curls) looks very cute on her. She has two outfits: white tank top & feathery dress with a cozy looking brown sweater and another outfit, an American flag tanktop, black shorts, gray pullover and a sock& heel look. The outfits are looks easy, comfortable and effortless ✨
  • Alex Warren’s and Rosé voice blend very well. Their duos singing parts are great!

The Wishful Thinking 🥺

Usually I like to critique (The Bad). But I don’t really have a part that I hate. It’s more like I wish… so here are my ‘I wish…’ points.

  • The song itself felt more like a ‘featuring’ rather than a collaboration. For one, Rosé actually starts singing around the 1:20 mark. She does have solo parts, but it’s definitely shorter than Alex Warren’s parts. So I was actually surprised when I found out that the song was actually co-written (with others of course.) But then again, when I did visit Black Label’s website, they didn’t really promote the song (or maybe I missed it? 🫤)… So maybe it is a ‘featuring’ after all?🤔
  • My next point is connected to my previous point… which is that Rosé didn’t really stand out in this song. I don’t think her vocal range really shone in this song. She does have great vocals but most of her parts are low key parts. Sure the duo part does go to a higher range, but her solo parts definitely missed out on those. Since her parts stayed in the lower register, I honestly felt like her voice didn’t get the spotlight—and almost any other female singer could’ve taken that role. 😕
  • I kinda felt that the music video was slightly confusing. 🤔 I got that they looked at each other through their own perspective – Rosé was a girl in the dollhouse and Alex Warren was looking at her from the outside. But then at the end, they ended up just standing side by side… I had to look at Wikipedia to understand this. (Can anyone explain it to me?!)

My Overall Take 👩🏻🍵

On My Mind is a strong intense song. It’s not as powerful, but it’s those kinds of songs that are intense, emotional and leaving a lasting impression kind of song.

But do I think “On My Mind” is a hit? Sadly, no. 🥲

In a positive light, I think this is the kind of song that will serve as a stepping stone for Rosé. While it doesn’t shine a light on her vocal range, she’s able to grow and expand her musical range as a singer-songwriter.

I do have mixed feelings though. On one hand, this song gives her the opportunity to step out of her K-pop music roots, but on the other hand, she does lose from it because it strays away from her brand. But it is a quiet, heartfelt step in Rosé’s journey beyond K-pop—and I’m curious to see where she goes next.
