A bonus content reviewing F1 Movie OST “Messy” by Rosé
Today I watched Brad Pitt’s new summer blockbuster movie “F1“. So, I’ve decided to review “Messy” by Rosé, one of the OST of the movie. (Despite the fact that the music was released over a month ago… 😅)

Before I review the music, let me just say it. The movie is SDG – SO DAMN GOOD!! 🤩 It was the perfect summer blockbuster that was full of speed, drama and the thrill. If you didn’t get the chance to watch it, go ahead! Oh, by the way… Best to watch the movie in theaters if you want to some dynamic experience.
Now back to my review…
My Music Take 🎤
The Good 😆
- First off, how cool is it that Rosé was chosen to participate in F1 OST?! It’s not just about her star power—this proves that even big studios recognize her musical talent, both vocally and as a songwriter. Impressive!
- Another thing that I found impressive is that Rosé is truly an artist as she goes beyond lending her voice. She is after all credited as one of the writers of the song. According to Wikipedia, Rosé was shown a clip of the movie, which she drew inspiration to write the song.
- The song is intense with emotions and it’s a perfect backdrop for an emotionally intense scene for Brad Pitt and Kerry Condon. I loved it in the movie and again when I heard the whole song.
- I also loved how the song transitioned into a fast beat electronic club music as the movie scene transitioned from Brad Pitt and Kerry Condon’s love scene to a party scene. This was when I realized that even a pop ballad can become the perfect club music with just the right beat and synthetic sound. 😆🪩
- I also loved Rosé’s vocals. Sure, it’s not a powerful song so her full vocal range is not shown. But the way she sings pleadingly (with emotions) perfectly reflects the lyrics “Baby, I’m obsessed with you and there’s no replica / Maybe if it’s messy, if it’s messy, if it’s messy / Then you know it’s really love”
The Bad 😕
- Honestly, my only letdown was the music video. It was uninspired and just meh- as it didn’t match the intensity of the music. In addition, the music video is just scenes of the movie + Rosé drinking martini, singing at the center of the club sitting like a mermaid and her walking the Las Vegas strip. To conclude it in one word – BORING. 🥱
My Overall Take
Okay, I’m probably biased (obviously), but Messy is another win for Rosé. 🤗
Even if the MV was a little boring, the song itself shows why everyone—from artists to filmmakers—wants to work with her. She’s got the presence and the talent. 😍
Whether you’re into the song or not, give it a listen, and oh… go see F1 in theaters while you’re at it. You won’t regret it!
