K-netizens are split over Gwyneth Paltrow’s take on “Korean Style Steak” 🥩 and Eggs 🍳 — and it’s sparking more debate than you’d expect.

It seems like Gwyneth Paltrow knows how to keep the buzz on-going.
From her surprise cameo in Meghan Markle’s shorts (shutting down those feud rumors) to her clever and random appearance in Astronomer commercial (although I can’t stand Maximum Efforts’ involvement 😒), to this: a viral breakfast moment.
Last week on July 20, Gwyneth posted a reel of herself making breakfast for her husband. The dish? Korean Steak 🥩 and Eggs 🍳.
Here’s the full clip:
By now, most people have seen it — and while the food got attention, so did her face. Particularly her lips (We’ll let you judge that part yourself 👀) But I was more intrigued by the food itself… and everyone’s reactions.
💬 What People Are Saying
Let’s start with the love. Gwyneth’s Instagram fans flooded the comments with praise:
“You’re a great cook!”
“It looks delicious!”
“Avocado with kimchi? Never thought of that — genius!”
Some even offered recipe tips or called her creativity refreshing.
Then, I found an on-going discussion on threads and let’s just say that the comments are less rainbows and sparkles. 😏 Comments are more like:
“Umm… this is Korean food?”
“So if you add gochujang, soy sauce, and sesame oil, it’s Korean now?”
“This feels more Southeast Asian than Korean.”
“Now I understand what Italians must feel like when they see our interpretation of pasta“ (LOL 😂)
Of course, there were still positive notes (“Looks healthy!” / “At least she can cook”), but the overall tone was… skeptical.
👩🏻🍵 My Take?
Honestly, there’s no hate here. Gwyneth never claimed it was authentic Korean food — just her “take” on it. So if it tastes good and you enjoy it… who’s stopping you? 🤷🏻♀️
But it does raise an interesting point: why does putting sesame oil or gochujang on a dish instantly make it “Korean”? Would we call ketchup and pickles “American”? 🍔 Also she did say “Korean Steak” which is almost non-existent in Korean food. (I’ve heard Korean beef, but Korean steak…?) 🧐
💭 Your Verdict?
So what do you think of Gwyneth’s Korean Steak and Eggs?
Cultural appreciation? Fusion done right? Or another Hollywood case of “close enough”?
