Katseye Drops ‘Gabriela’ MV- Drama, Cat Fights & Jessica Alba!

I previously wrote about the surprise appearance by non other than Jessica Alba 🤯 in the music video. Now that it dropped, it’s time to share my review on Katseye’s Gabriela music video.

By the time I caught on, it had already been up for 21 hours and racked up over 5 million views. Aside from the Katseye members, the video features Jessica Alba (who had a way bigger role than I expected!) and Soojoo, the Korean-American model best known as L’Oreal’s first Asian global ambassador. She’s been a long time Chanel collaborator as well — but honestly, in Korea, she’s probably more famous for being G-Dragon’s friend.

👩🏻🍵 Kayla’s Thoughts:

  • The song is definitely catchy, and now I get how the music influenced the whole telenovela-inspired storyline.
  • That said, I still didn’t vibe with the visuals — just not my taste.
  • Which is why I had a “huh?” moment when Jessica Alba (and Soojoo, to some extent) starts speaking in English. If they were going full telenovela, wouldn’t Spanish have made more sense? (She’s still so hot though 😝)
  • I did like that one of the bridges was sung in Spanish — so again, why not carry that through in the dialogue too? Even a little ad-lib in Spanish could’ve amped up the soap opera drama.
  • Lots of feisty catfights — literally — which I guess ties into their name, ‘Katseye,’ and the whole dramatic telenovela theme.
  • The part where the members blew rose petals out of their mouths and everyone started acting like cats… that part was cringey, to be honest.😕
  • So in the end, Jessica Alba smiles at the chaos and zooms in on a cat?? I’m lost. Is the plot that she manipulated everyone to get the Gabriela Corporation to herself and then sat back gleefully as she watched everyone destroy each other?
  • What is the name Gabriela? Is it some random name?

💬 So… What am I missing? If you got the storyline or the name origin, please explain it to me in the comments.

Genuinely confused 🤔
