Pop In Weekly: Lisa’s 2nd Act, NYE Goes K-pop, and BTS in Trouble?

Lisa returns to acting on Netflix, K-pop takes over Times Square for New Year’s Eve, and Cha Seung-won to host “The Traitors” in Korea— Hot Takes & Cold Tea for the week of December 8th!

Approximately ten months after Lisa’s first acting project in “The White Lotus” (Read my review on her performance!), she’s officially back for Round 2 — this time on Netflix.

On December 4, Netflix announced a new film titled “TYGO”, a spin-off of the Extraction universe. The movie will star Don Lee (Eternals), Lee Jin-uk (Squid Game Season 3), and Lalisa Manobal from The White Lotus.

The story follows Don Lee as a former child soldier turned mercenary who seeks revenge on Korea’s underworld after a mission goes wrong. Lisa will play his childhood friend at the center of the mission, while Lee Jin-uk takes on the villain role. The film will be executively produced by the Russo Brothers’ AGBO and Don Lee’s Big Punch Entertainment.

👩🏻🍵 Kayla’s Thoughts

Welcome back to the acting circle, Lisa! I didn’t mind her performance in “The White Lotus“, although her role was too limited for me to judge her properly. I’m curious to see her action range this time — will she get praised or booed? 😉

But honestly… I’m not going in with high hopes. Don Lee was refreshing years ago, but fans are tired of him playing the same character in every project he produces. And Lisa as his “childhood friend”? She looks way too young to convince me. 😅

Still, who knows — TYGO might end up a surprise hit… or a predictable miss. 🙃

2) Le Sserafim & Kpop Demon Hunters to Ring In New Years Eve

If you haven’t been under the rocks this year, you probably heard of both Le Sserafim and “Kpop Demon Hunters”.

Le Sserafim took TikTok by storm with their viral hit ‘Spaghetti’ (Check out my review!) while HUNTR/X (EJAE, Audrey Nuna, Rei Ami) captured global attention with the breakout track ‘Golden’ from “Kpop Demon Hunters”.

Both Le Sserafim and HUNTR/X will take the stage on New Years Eve on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rocking Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2026 at Times Square in New York.

They will join performers such as 50 Cent, Chappell Roan, Charlie Puth, Chance the Rapper, Demi Lovato, Madison Beer, Mariah Carey, and Post Malone.

Past K-pop performers included Psy (2013), BTS (2018, 2020), J-hope (2023), and New Jeans (2024).

Ooh… K-pop is on top and the girls are totally ruling this year! 🥹

I still don’t entirely get the hype around ‘Spaghetti’, but clearly America does — Le Sserafim is having their FIRE moment 🔥. And HUNTR/X? They’re blowing the roof off with ‘Golden’. Looking forward to rocking out to their songs on the last night of 2025! 🥳

3) BTS Frazzles ARMY This Week

It’s been a tense week in ARMY-land as two BTS members found themselves at the center of attention — for very different reasons.

First up is Jungkook, who sparked dating rumors with aespa’s Winter. Fans noticed they had matching tattoos of three dog heads placed above their elbows, along with matching items like in-ear monitors and shirts. Jungkook was also reportedly spotted at aespa’s concert earlier this year during his military break. Both HYBE and SM have stayed silent — which, to many fans, feels like quiet confirmation.

Meanwhile, RM raised concerns after appearing on WeVerse on December 6. He mentioned that despite BTS’s planned March 2026 comeback, the members had once considered disbanding after completing their military service. Ultimately, they chose to move forward out of love for each other and for fans. RM also seemed to indirectly address Jungkook’s dating rumors, asking fans to understand the members’ private lives despite their “clumsiness.”

👩🏻🍵 Kayla’s Thoughts

Oooh… things really do not look great for BTS this week. Jungkook’s dating rumors are swirling, and RM’s WeVerse comments didn’t exactly calm the storm. 😬

As someone in her mid-thirties (lol) and not a hardcore stan, I personally don’t mind idols dating. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I get what RM is trying to say. But many fans aren’t taking it well — some claim he was being disrespectful or even threatening fans with talk of “disbandment.” I get their shock… but also… why didn’t anyone stop RM before he made things worse? 🤔

HYBE, some advice: keep the boys quiet until the album drops. Then let their music turn the narrative back around — because if anything can win hearts again, it’s a great BTS comeback.

Are you excited about Lisa’s new acting project? Are you ready to ring in New Years with Le Sserafim and HUNTR/X? Do you think that BTS deserves all these hate from the ARMY?
