Pop In Weekly: Emmy Nods, Katseye Sells Out & Irene Goes Skincare Chic

“Emmy Nods & Snubs, Katseye Takes Flight, and Irene Kim Goes Skincare Chic — Hot Tea & Cold Takes for the Week of July 21!”

1) 2025 Emmy Nominations Nods & Snubs

77th Emmy Nominations (Source: Television Academy)

The 77th Emmy Nominations were announced on two consecutive days- July 15th for the main nominations and July 16th for creative arts nominations. And let’s just say that it has been a less than stellar year for Korean shows.

For one, “Squid Game” was nowhere to be seen. This is a stark contrast to the years 2021 and 2022, the year that they swept all the main awards for that one season. Since the announcement many major headlines highlighted that “Squid Game” was snubbed this year.

But some good news on the side- Korean related shows earned 3 nominations on these nights. The first being, Apple TV’s “Pachinko” earning two nominations – ‘Outstanding Cinematography For A Series (One Hour)’ and ‘Outstanding Production Design For A Narrative Period Or Fantasy Program (One Hour Or More)’. It’s sad though, that even with these nominations, the future of ‘Pachinko’ is still unclear.

Another nomination goes to Steve Yeun for ‘Outstanding Character Voice- Over Performance’ as Mark Grayson in Amazon Prime Video’s “Invincible”. I actually did not know this but apparently, he voices the main character.

So congratulations are in order! 🥳

👩🏻🍵 Kayla’s Thoughts:

Honestly, it’s not a stellar night for Korean contents. But I also disagree with headlines that says that “Squid Game” was snubbed. Because truth be told, did “Squid Game” deserve any awards since the horrendous season 3? (Read My Review!) 🫣 Sure it might have been a show with one of the biggest views. But big views does not equal to award worthy quality. 🤗 So I’m totally not offended and I agree wholeheartedly with the Emmys this year. And congrats to the other nominees! I hope that they do win on that special night 😘

2) Katseye Adds New Dates on Sold Out Concert Tour

Katseye Beautiful Chaos Tour (@katseyeworld)

HYBE America’s K-pop style girl group Katseye added new dates after tickets for their tour sold out. Initially announced on July 8th, Katseye is planning to embark on their first-ever concert tour titled ‘Beautiful Chaos’. The tour, which was named after their second EP is primarily focused in North America. Starting from November 15 in Minneapolis, the girls (Daniela, Lara, Manon, Megan, Sophia and Yoonchae) will be touring 14 cities across the US and Canada.

The tickets quickly sold out after Katseye made an announcement. To accommodate the popularity, they added extra shows in New York, LA and San Francisco.

👩🏻🍵 Kayla’s Thoughts:

Although I am not a Katseye stan at all, I’m glad to hear that a group that I’ve been covering is doing well. Actually better than I thought, since they added dates because their concert sold out. Wish them luck and hopefully, their concert experience will help them grow into a bigger group!

3) Irene Kim Launches New Skincare Brand “Skit”

On July 14th, famous Korean-American influencer & model Irene Kim made a special announcement on her official instagram.

Irene Kim’s Suprise Annoucement of Skit (@ireneisgood)

As you can read above, she has made her very own skincare brand called ‘Skit’. And with that annoucement, she immediately dropped her first product from her brand, a clover-shaped gel patch.

The product will be taking pre-order on July 22nd, so head on over to her official instagram @skit or www.skitbeauty.com on July 22nd KST! (I’m not in any way sponsored or affiliated with this brand, btw!)

👩🏻🍵 Kayla’s Thoughts:

I have been a fan of Irene Kim and have been following her for quite some years. I always loved her bright attitude (I don’t know her personally but it seems like it!) Honestly, when I first heard of her skincare brand, I was hesitant. Because we all how it goes with celebrity brands. 🙄 Plus my skin type is combination, so it’s very different from her ‘dry skin’ type. But once I saw the clover-shaped gel patches, I thought- CUTE! 😝 I actually thought to myself, maybe I can really put these on when I travel long flights, like to the states. I am willing to pre-order it and am just hoping that it’s not too overpriced! And obviously, I’m curious about the product, but I’m also curious about the pricing or how it’s packaged. Maybe if I get the chance, I’ll order it and do a review! 🤭
