Butterfly Lands in Korea—and the Cast is Serving Looks (Some Better Than Others)

From premieres to press conferences, the cast brought the glam, the chaos, and a couple of style misses.

So, remember how I was buzzing with excitement after reviewing the trailer for Prime Video’s new series Butterfly? Well, the cast has been on a full-blown promo marathon since early August—and I’m playing catch-up. 😅 Let’s rewind the highlight reel:

August 5 – New York Premiere Red Carpet Event

Promo kicked off in NYC with Kim Tae-hee joining the American cast for the premiere.

Known for her beauty and brains, she caught the attention of Korean fans with her English interview.

Now… was her English actually impressive? Not really. It definitely sounded like someone who learned English in Korea. But hey, effort counts, and she still managed to express her thoughts clearly—so I’ll hand her an A+ for trying. 👏🏻

August 13- “Butterfly” officially debuts globally on Prime Video. (Except South Korea 😤)

August 17- Daniel Dae Kim Arrives to Korea

Daniel Dae Kim arrived at Incheon International Airport to start his Korea promo tour. This man wears more hats than I can count—Lost actor, Hawaii Five-O star, producer of The Good Doctor, first Asian American Tony nominee for Best Actor, one of People’s “Sexiest Men Alive,” and owner of jawlines so sharp they could cut glass… 😂 You get the picture. 😏

August 18- Seoul Red Carpet Showcase

No time to rest for Daniel Dae Kim, Reina Hardesty (who plays his daughter in the show) and Sean Dulake joins Korean actors Kim Tae-hee, Park Hae-soo and Kim Ji-hoon for the red carpet showcase.

Daniel, Reina Hardesty (who plays his daughter), and Sean Dulake joined Korean stars Kim Tae-hee, Park Hae-soo, and Kim Ji-hoon for the big Seoul showcase. Fashion check: Reina might’ve overdressed but still looked coordinated. Kim Tae-hee? Did she not get the note? I mean, sorry 😒 but that blue denim outfit was way too casual compared to the rest. The men were fine—nothing groundbreaking, but at least nobody clashed. 🤷🏻‍♀️

August 21- Seoul Press Conference

The vibe switched to colorful-casual. Kim Tae-hee redeemed herself here, looking elegant and polished. Daniel, Kim Ji-hoon, and Sean Dulake went bold with wine, blue, and green tones—bright but not clashing (thank God). Reina, though… I wasn’t feeling the sailor-inspired look. The odd dress length didn’t help either. 😕

Anyways, the cast shared their thoughts on working on the show. For Kim Tae-hee, Kim JI-hoon and Park Hae-soo, it was their first time working in a Hollywood production. For Daniel Dae Kim, it was a surreal moment as he not only delved into the Korean culture as a Korean American actor, but it was also a dream come true moment as it was his first time working in his birth country.

August 22- “Butterfly” to debut on tvN in Korea

The wait is almost over as the show will be premiering tomorrow in Korea! I’m crossing my fingers that the show will be good. I’ll definitely be posting my review soon. 😎

Are you guys excited as much as I am about the show? Let me know your thoughts!
